Jacqui's Birthday Party

So Jacqui has been SO excited to have her B'day party at Chuck E Cheese this year. It was the first time she had ever been and we had 3 hours (yes that is 3 hours) of all you can handle fun with the big Cheese... Originally her B'day theme was Scooby Doo. Then she decided she just wanted to have "a Happy Birthday... I don't want a Scooby Doo Birthday theme mom, how about... I want a Happy Birthday!" So we did the "Happy Birthday" theme. The plan was to have a chocolate cake with hearts and roses on it (her idea) with pinks and purples... Well we got to the store and saw the dinosaur cake and that was the end of that. "It has a volcano on it Mom... How cool is that?!" (Which would be one of her new favorite things to say.) I asked her why she didn't want her hearts and roses cake like she planned. Her answer "It's complicated mom, you wouldn't understand". I think I have been demoted! Anyway the Birthday party was great and she absolutely loved it! Thought you guys might enjoy the pictures... April Fools

Happy April everyone, and a happy spring to everyone else. We got a great April Fools gift of a few inches of snow over yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Needless to say, we now hold the record for annual snow fall. The old record was 93.5 inches from the 1949-1950 winter, we are now at 94 inches with possible 1-3 more inches expected tonight... What a great way to start the spring! Anyway, it is April and the sun has to come out eventually, the countdown is on for Jacqui's birthday and we can't wait to see you all who are able to make it over. We miss and love you guys and are looking towards AZ more and more as this weather continues.

President's List

Hey all I just wanted to give you a quick update on school. I am currently on spring break and only have 6 eweks left of classes to my Bachelor's in Nursing Degree. I was able to finish it in 9 months because I have taken between 16 and 22 credits per quarter (almost double time!). Anywho, I recieved a letter from my school today with a certificate, apparently I have made the President's List for last qtr, and am off to a good start for this qtr. The President's List means I took over 12 credits and received a 4.0 in all my classes. I was pretty stoked and proud of myself, as I have been putting A LOT of work and time into this. Thought I would let you all know and do a little shameless self-promotion ;) Love and Miss you all!

Going to New Orleans!

Well I just had to share with you all. There is a Veterans Affairs Nursing Seminar that is being held in New Orleans in April and my work has decided to send me to attend!!! I am soooo excited to get to go back there (haven't been since Katrina). AND what is better than having someone else (namely the JOB) pay for the entire trip... Does it get any better? I think not! I am excited and feeling very blessed for A. for having a job at all with the economy as it is and B. having such a great job that allows me the opportunity to do this! The last day of the seminar we get to build a Habitat-For-Humanity house, so we get to help out and make a difference to someone, as well as learn what other VAs across the nation are doing to care for our vets and promote growth and change from within our own VAs. The only thing that will be stressful is I am going for 5 days 3 weeks into my final round of classes for my Bachelor's Degree (the classes are only 6 weeks longs). So I will have to be working ahead to make sure I get all my work done and in on time. I would appreciate your prayers for a safe and productive trip... Love you guys!

Grandma Spence passed away the morning of March 1, 2009. Just wanted to post a great pic I found of her from JR's birthday last year. She was in her basement, working on one of her projects... They say she went peacefully. Just wanted you all to know.
